I am the oldest member of the nursing team. I left school without any qualifications, but due to a change in my personal circumstances, decided to follow my dreams and try and pursue a career working with animals. I signed up to college in 2007 to do a national diploma in animal management, which I completed with a triple distinction. After leaving college I was offered a position in a practice where I had done my work experience, firstly as receptionist, then nursing assistant before I was offered a Trainee nurse position. College life was difficult at my age but I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2012.
I moved to the Isle of Man in 2014 to work for Arg Beiyn. Since then, I have undertaken a level 3 certificate in hydrotherapy. I now spend three days a week are at our Ramsey branch, running the hydrotherapy unit, we are lucky enough to have a water treadmill. I am also working towards a certificate in bereavement, which is an area of veterinary I feel very passionate towards.
When living in the UK, I used to run a hedgehog rescue recovery and rehabilitation unit called 'prickly patch'. This involved giving talks to groups and schools to raise awareness to hedgehogs in the everyday hazards they face.
Out of work I enjoy time in my garden, helping my husband who is renovating our home, and taking trips exploring the island to find new places to walk my dog. Motor sport is another passion, weekly during the race season, I can be found at Onchan raceway, in and around the pits / grandstand during the TT and classic TT. I enjoy spectating hill climbs and rallies when back in the UK, it's always quality time with my son and grandson and other family members.
